CRASH CASE: Former state Senator and gubernatorial candidate Scott Wagner fell asleep at the wheel last spring and hit a car head-on in Maryland, critically injuring an 89-year-old man, a lawsuit says. York Dispatch reports Wagner was cited but later acquitted. Authorities did not detect impairment or subject Wagner to drug and alcohol testing.
 
STRUCK DOWN: Pennsylvania's Commonwealth Court has overturned the Wolf administration's school mask mandate, deciding the acting health secretary lacked the authority to impose it. Wolf's office said an appeal is coming and will keep the mask rule in place for now. Before the ruling, Wolf said he expected the mandate to last until January.

COVID CASE: Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R., Centre) has tested positive for COVID-19 and canceled a reported gubernatorial campaign launch slated for his hometown of Bellefonte tonight. Corman's office said he tested positive despite being fully vaccinated, had mild symptoms, and will quarantine at home, via Capital-Star.

GUN BILLS: After hours of sometimes heated debate, Pennsylvania's Senate this week approved bills that would loosen gun laws statewide, allowing people to carry a loaded weapon without a permit and making it easier to sue over local firearm restrictions, the AP reports. Gov. Tom Wolf has said he will veto the bills if they reach his desk.

HOVER OVER: Steve Lynch, the GOP candidate for Northampton County executive best known for threatening school board members over school mask rules, is refusing to accept his "blowout" loss in last week's election and, The Morning Call reports, "haunting" the county's vote canvassing process in search of wrongdoing with his supporters.

VETERANS DAY: Today is Veterans Day, a commemoration of American military members. More than 710,000 Pennsylvanians had served as of 2019, most in the Vietnam Era. This is also the first Veterans Day in 20 years without troops in Afghanistan. The last soldier out was a Chambersburg native.

BIG DEAL: Congress' $1.2 trillion infrastructure deal includes $13 billion for Pennsylvania's highways and bridges, $4.2 billion for its public transit and water systems, and millions more for airports, cyber security, and wildfire protection, Axios reports. The bill also mandates anti-drunk driving tech.

ROAD WORK: Capital-Star reports one in five laws enacted by Pennsylvania legislators so far this year have involved renaming a bridge or road: the highest such ratio seen this decade, though it could change.
